Betaxolol hydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt of betaxolol, a beta-1-selective adrenergic receptor antagonist. It acts on the heart and circulatory system to decrease cardiac contractility and rate, and when applied topically to the eye, it lowers intraocular pressure by reducing aqueous humor secretion.
