Nateglinide is an N-acyl-D-phenylalanine derivative that functions as an orally administered, rapidly absorbed, short-acting insulinotropic agent. It is used as a hypoglycemic agent and an inhibitor of dipeptidyl-peptidase IV, primarily in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products for type 2 diabetes mellitus.
